The Royal Albert Hall will host spectacular event with special guest Prince Charles and performers Balkan Beat Box Soundsystem .

0
On May 24th, London’s most prestigious music venue The Royal Albert Hall will host an exciting experience and event – Israel’s eclectic-collective Balkan Beat Box (including Ori Kaplan, former member for punk band Gogol Bordello) will be premiering their latest project, Balkan Beat Box Soundsystem including singers and musicians from Israel’s diverse and deserving society, expanding on their signature mix of world music, jazz, electronica, hip hop and everything in between. Joining Balkan Beat Box Soundsystem on this extraordinary evening will be special guest, legendary engineer and producer Prince Charles, along with leading Israeli performers and dancers to brighten this ultimate experience.

As well this joyous occasion, there will be six other performs scheduled to drop jaws –
A-WA, a band consisting of three sisters inspired by oral history of Yemenite women’s chanting with experimentation in electronic dance music. Gili Yafo is a skilled vocalist set on incorporating sounds from traditional Ethiopian music into a contemporary merging, with lyrics sung in both Amharic and English. Award-winning contemporary dance company, aptly titled Vertigo Dance Company will premiering their latest project with the string orchestra Revolution Orchestra titled White Noise, weaving together eleven dancers and eleven musicians into their spectacular performance. The Gilad Ephrat Ensemble led by composer and acclaimed double-bass player, Ephrat brings a new approach to stringed ensemble performance, with four musicians on violin, mandolin, cello and double-bass, broadening his already vast spectrum of sound. Rising vocalist Shai Tsabari fuses traditional oriental music with modern hints of rock, pop, electronic and world music to her eclecticism. Russian-born, now Israeli soprano-vocalist Olga Senderskaya has performed across the world for leading conductors and will too bring her along her glass shattering presentation to the mix.

The event will start at 19:30 at The Royal Albert Hall, and our comperes for the evening will be Suzy Klein and Rob Rinder and grand guest of honour, HRH The Prince Charles.

Excited on the upcoming performance, Balkan Beat Box drummer Tamir Muscat has commented, saying: “We are looking forward to premiering our new project, together with other superb performers from Israel.”

Jack LNDN releases new single ‘Rain’

0

Electronic dance music producer, Jack LNDN, just released a new single called ‘Rain‘. His first track ‘Stargazer‘ hit #1 on Hype Machine, justifiably as we think. A fresh start for the young musician! Too all Bass Camp fans out there, we do not want you to miss this wavy, ambient piece of art.

Cutt off everything that needs to be done for a few minutes, plug in you ear phones and give song no#1 ‘Stargazer‘ a listen.

Drugzz – Other than me

0

Up and coming future-bass artist DRUGZZ has shared his debut single ‘Someone Other Than Me’ via Super Serious, set for official release on the 2nd March, mastered by Joe LaPorta of Sterling Sound Studio (David Bowie, Imagine Dragons, Grizzly Bear, The WEEKND, Armin Van Buuren, X Ambassadors, Foofighters, The Killers) and produced by Robbie Gardunio (Siglia, Bohnes, Eyho). Having previously worked with Spinnin Deep’s De Hofnar and Ziggy Alberts (Y.V.E 48) the Nashville-based artist has produced a sterling debut, and has been likened to the sounds of a crossover between Louis The Child and Simple Plan.

Born from the slums of upscale suburbia, Sam Krager began his childhood without much of a chance. Coming from a loving family of 6, he always felt insufficient and looked over. He became depressed early on in life because his three brothers always kicked his ass on Xbox. Ultimately getting the best of himself, Sam never learned that life was meant to be enjoyed, thus leading him to live vicariously through the artist known as DRUGZZ: “I spent the last 6 years of my life starting and running a fresh salsa company called Uncle Kragers. I was working 70 hours in a kitchen chopping fucking cilantro while all my friends were outside going on vacations and playing sold out shows. Our company did very well, but I ended up hating my life. Inspiration comes in many ways – sometimes through cilantro stained hands.” he says.

A collector of vintage drum gear, DRUGZZ is inspired by rhythm, and sitting at a drum set is crucial for his writing process.  He used an old Rogers drum set to make samples for the record, adding in the swirling synth sounds of the innovative Moog Sub Phatty. Citing influences such as Blink-182, The Chemical Brothers, Lupe Fiasco, Copeland, The National, Death Cab for Cutie.

Someone Other Than Me’ is a dizzying voyage through a brightly-lit abyss: driving bass lines, pounding percussive beats and confrontational vocal delivery spiked with a wry sense of humour. Blending elements of electronica, future-bass, EDM, pop-punk and indie, DRUGZZ has created a mind-melting signature style completely of his own.

Speaking on the latest single, DRUGZZ comments: Someone Other Than Me is a love struggle song. I wrote this song after getting out of an engagement in 2016. My heart was in shambles at the time and I couldn’t express clearly what was going on inside. So I wrote this song to help me get over her.”

‘Remember This’ – 32Stitches releases new single

0
32Stitches has just released his latest single ‘Remember This.’ The much anticipated release follows previously successful singles ‘Keeper Of The Realm‘, ‘Last Time’ and ‘Vohwala’, and looks set to continue the Mumbai-based electronic producer’s upward trajectory.

Born in Chandigarh, India, 32Stitches threw caution to the wind, forfeiting the life of a successful logistics businessman to pursue his passion for electronic music. Dabbling in future bass, dance music, progressive and electro, he remains unshackled to a specific genre and  shows no sign of restriction when it comes to producing and creating.

Citing influences such as K?d, Illenium, Kaskade and ARMNHMR, his crisp production techniques have drawn parallels to the likes of  Mura Masa or Flume – concise percussion, complex programming, deep, edgy basslines and oscillated synthesizers.

The track was made on a rainy day with a coffee in one hand and heartbreak in the pocket” he says. “The melody is inspired by the journey of a dead end relationship that usually goes nowhere but leaves many good memories. It was a pleasure working on this since it helped me express the emotional phase that I was going through when I made the track.”

Bobby Nourmand releases cathartic new track ‘Prisoner (feat. Laurent John)’

0

Bobby Nourmand needs no introduction. With multiple releases seeing over millions of plays on digital platforms alone, going viral on Spotify and Shazam charts, and most hitting the #1 spot on the Hype Machine multiple times over, to airtime on Pete Tong’s BBC RADIO 1 Essential mix, Capital Xtra’s Clubbers Guide with Ministry of Sound, LA’s premier KCRW, Sirius XM Chill, and iHeart’s Evolution Radio, to print pieces in both DJMag and Mixmag as one of the “Hottest New Artists,” Nourmand has made his mark on the music industry.

His latest offering, ‘Prisoner (feat. Laurent John)’ is no exception to his upward trajectory. “Hearing the vocals live gave me goosebumps. It was actually hard to play the piano while listening to the lyrics; one of the most powerful moments in my career as a musician. Talk about catharsis. I had to take a moment to breathe while writing this.”

Uppermost releases ‘Slide ft. Yudimah’ from upcoming album “Perseverance”

0

Following the release of Make A Change and ‘Step By Step ft. Sôra,’  electronic producer Uppermost has released a new single from his upcoming album Perseverance,  ‘Slide ft. Yudimah’ featuring French independent rapper Yudimah.

Uppermost has a string of successful releases in his wake, and previous hit tracks have garnered significant attention for the Paris based artist. ‘Flashback’ and ‘Beautiful Light’ have already generated more than 27 million combined streams, whilst his single ‘Disco Kids’ was selected to be featured in Mercedes-Benz’ Formula One campaign and his track ‘Flashback’ was featured on Vivelle Dop’s TV. In addition to releasing music via his own independent label UPPWIND, Uppermost has released music through major labels such as Sony and Ministry Of Sound and done official remixes for the likes of Dada Life and Lemaitre.

Uppermost cites Persian musical influences as having played a significant role in inspiring his music, as well as artists such as Daft Punk, Burial, Apparat, Phoenix and Pogo. With an emphasis on the emotional aspect of music, he crafts “compositions” rather than mere “tracks” and it is this approach to music that allows him to showcase both his own skill, as well as the talents of his collaborating artists.”When working on a collaboration, I like to let the vocalist express his own thoughts without any constraint of theme. This is one of the very first times that the lyrics perfectly meet the original inspiration of the instrumental. Yudimah is not a simple rapper, he’s got something different that directly speaks to the soul” he says.

Slide ft. Yudimah’ begins with introductory synthesizers and pianos before crashing into concrete, percussive beats against French rapper Yudimah’s expressive language and unabridged poetry. The chorus is filled with stop-start styled guitars and electronics to create a unique and fresh perspective with just enough energy to lure you on to the dancefloor.

Uppermost’s upcoming album Perseverance is scheduled for release on the 23rd March, pre-order now available.

EPHWURD BRINGS OLD SCHOOL TO THE NEW AGE WITH “FUNCTION” FT. ONEEVA

0
If one were to flash back to dance music at the turn of the decade, they’d find that synthesized electro-house and wobbling bass ruled the airwaves on the “harder” end of the spectrum, a sound that has since evolved into what we now know as bass house, future bass and more. Bringing a vintage flair to the modern era, Ephwurd teamed up with Oneeva for their new single “Function,” a trippy, bass-driven journey featuring the vocals of Oneeva’s Natalie Kyoko Waters, whose silky and emotive voice evokes memories of trance classics. “Function” lets Waters’s song shine through before its wobbling bassline kicks in, layered with serrated electro synths and effervescent melodies. With lyrics that hint at technology malfunction, the track is a plays with the intersection of humanity and artificial intelligence, all the while being a guaranteed dancefloor slayer.

“Function” is the third track out on Eph’d Up Records, the latest expansion of Datsik and Bais Haus’ growing Ephwurd empire, following “Phunky Beats” (featuring Jvst Say Yes) and “Money” (featuring Fatman Scoop) earlier this year. Since making their notable debut as an anonymous duo in 2015, Ephwurd have been shaking dancefloors around the globe with their signature bass-house sound, yet always evolving. Their collaboration with Oneeva, which is comprised of producer Antonio Fioravanti and vocalist Natalie Kyoko Waters, represents a foray into new musical territory as they begin to bring up-and-coming talent to their own imprint. Drawing their inspiration from artists such as Nero and Feed Me, Oneeva is a winning fit for Ephwurd’s brand identity. Epwhurd just rounded out the year with a takeover of LA’s Belasco Theater, so we can’t wait to see what is in store in 2018 for these aces of bass.

Tricky Shares Music Video For ‘New Stole’ (Feat. Francesca Belmonte)

0

The video was produced and directed by Indexthumb and features Francesca Belmonte, laden with molten wax effects and dark motifs relating directly to the lyrical inspiration of the song – and indeed more tangentially to the imagery of Tricky’s musical career to date.

Director Indexthumb adds: “The animation evokes the idea of someone who will only ever let you get so close, shapeshifting playfully, before melting away before your eyes.”

The record, conceived in Moscow and completed in Tricky’s new home of Berlin, is a delicate, storming, intricate album which sees Tricky take perhaps his most radical step yet – a journey into happiness and contentment, and an attempt to answer the question, “what does Tricky sound like?”.

Francesca Belmonte adds: “This song is about a baptism of fire. It’s about acknowledging your trauma, facing it, embracing it, loving it and letting it go. It’s about coming out the other side having done the work, changed forever, for better or worse. It’s about knowing yourself and moving on.”

Listen to Bicep’s BBC Radio 1 Essential Mix

0

Last Friday saw Bicep take the reins of the BBC Radio 1 Essential Mix, adding some extra shine on a
watershed twelve months for the Ninja Tune-signed duo. With the dust still settling around their landmark debut album, the iconic mix series ties off a success-studded year for the Belfast-born, London-based duo. It features an exclusive track by Hammer (forthcoming on their Feel My Bicep imprint), several unreleased Bicep edits, as well as cuts from Norwell, CJ Bolland and Fantastic Man. They explain the idea behind the mix: “We’ve both got fond memories of long car journeys spent listening to the Essential Mix. For our contribution, we wanted to do something different to our normal club sets: exploring the influences behind our album and touching on genres we wouldn’t normally be able to play out.”

Releasing their self-titled debut in September, the album runs rich with the warmth of club music’s
halcyon days and is a perfect distillation of a sound that’s been honed over a decade-long career. ‘Bicep’ has been heralded as one of the best-realised dance music albums of 2017 which went in at #20 in the UK album charts. The record was framed by impeccable design across the campaign from Portuguese collective Royal Studio. On it, they channel a many-sided, personal gamut of club music influences – including (but not limited to) house, garage, ambient and breakbeat – into an album that’s as innovative as it is well-schooled in music, successfully striking that elusive sweet spot: making dancefloor-minded creations that work just as well for home listening.

Inaugurating their stellar live show at Coachella, they toured it to sell-out venues in LA, New York, Japan, across Europe and played the world’s most revered festival stages including Pitchfork Paris,
Glastonbury, Dekmantel, Melt! and Primavera. They sold out Village Underground in just 3 minutes,
Electric Brixton in 24 hours, with a Roundhouse show in April 2018 close to sold out too. Bicep have
been announced in the first wave of acts for Sonar, are taking the live show across Australia and already have a packed diary for 2018.

Praise was heaped on ‘Bicep’ by The Guardian, Pitchfork and Resident Advisor, along with gracing
the front cover and extensive feature in Mixmag. Radio 1’s Annie Mac has championed all three singles ‘Aura’, ‘Glue’, ‘Vale’ and new track ‘Metro’ extensively, along with inviting them on to perform a prestigious Maida Vale session while Pete Tong made ‘Metro’ his Essential New Tune. The album was BBC 6 Music’s Album of the Day, where ‘Glue’ reached the B list and ‘Vale’ is currently on the A list.

It’s fair to say it’s been an incredible year, cementing Bicep’s clear-eyed vision of dance music’s limitless possibilities. Listen to Bicep’s Essential Mix here.

Maya Jane Coles releases latest music video ‘Darkside’

0

London based award-winning DJ/producer/artist, Maya Jane Coles has just made a prodigious comeback with the release of her latest music video ‘Darkside’, directed by celebrated art direction team, The Fashtons.

Despite only being 24, Maya Jane Coles continues to impress her fans exceptional work. She has mixed compilations for DJ Kicks and Fabric Live, remixed The XX, Ella Fitzgerald, Bonobo, as well as being sampled for Nicki Minaj’s mega hit ‘Truffle Butter’. The artist does not end her success there, she is also leading campaigns for favoured British footwear and clothing brand Doc Martens.

The Fashtons (Ben Ashton and Fiona Garden) have directed her phenomenal previous video for ‘Weak’ that has garnered 139,630 views on YouTube and over 42,100 plays on Soundcloud. Working on the latest video ‘Darkside’, The Fashtons return to create the next chapter working alongside a team of close friend artists (Natalia Latyszonek,  Rachel Freire, Georgie Bee and Kristina Vidic).  ‘Darkside’ consists of striking, illusive polyhedric shapes in which a ‘Blank Conscious Being’ tries on masks of the faces of those who live in Maya’s waking world. He based the masks that we see throughout the video on portraits of people who Maya has collaborated with.

Ben Ashton explains his use of the Polyhedron environment in the video: “Polyhedric shapes are beautifully simple but remarkably stable structures - the perfect blend of art and mathematics. The polyhedron we used in this project is called an Icosidodecahedron. I’m particularly drawn to the star shapes that you can see around the pentagons, and if you look at it from a different angle you can see a skull shape.”
